和老师的通信

　　老实说，说着我会尽力而为的话，心里却有些没有底气。最近放在学习上的时间
真的是不多啊……以生病为开端。病好了，学习的事情工作的事情都要加油了才是！

　　感觉到牛津后碰到的老师都很不错，至少表现得很关心学生，很人性化。嗯，就
是这样。

　　I am wondering why you ask us to do this exercise, and guess that it has
something to do with reflexivity. The subject matter of a discipline should
apply equally well to the individual practitioners of that discipline. Therefore,the
statistic which includes me should provide some information about me. Have
I got the point?

　　I suppose each of the exercises is designed to get you thinking. The‘
point ’of this exercise was a bit reflexive - to get you thinking about how
closely you felt represented by a statistic and whether the statistic captured
anything about you.

　　I notice you are very quiet in class - please join in the discussions
as much as possible. If you are finding the class difficult, please let me
know,

　　Hi, Dan.

　　Yes, I am very quiet in class. Actually, it was my first time to join
in the discussion last Monday, on AQLRM. I was quite happy for the improvement.

　　On the one hand, as you mentioned, the SSST is difficult to me. There
are so many strange terms in the articles that I am not sure whether I got
what the author want to express after reading. For example, I am totally lost
in last topic, ANT.

　　On the other hand, I am not used to join in the discussion in class. In
China, there are less chances for students to discuss in class. If I have
questions, I would ask teachers after classes. I always listen to others'
opinion carefully and then try to polish my own analysis. If I could not arrive
at a conclusion that I feel satisfactory with, I would not like to speak it
out.

　　I know I should join in the discussion as much as possible, but it is
not an easy job.

　　Anyway, I would work harder and try my best.

　　Hi Dian,

　　I understand that for you this class is hard - you probably have to work
harder than the other students because of language and unfamiliarity with
the style of teaching. However - I think you are going to make a great student
and will do really well! I appreciate your hard work and I am always willing
to talk about any subject you have problems with - just let me know what you
find confusing and we can discuss it.

　　In the next few weeks I am going to start talking to students about exam
questions so you can have some practice essays before the exam. I think this
will help you,
