Amazing Grace, how I found her, I know not!
---By ChiAn
Thank you, thank you, I couldn't have been less blessed.
Am I really BLIND?
Yes! If Samson be my bride.
Yes! If LOVE be my guide,
I shall be blinder than a bat, blinder than a mat.
If my temperature be diagnosed,
I would have broken the fever records,
When you sent me a gilded bridge,
I swear, I had a most holy breakdown,
I could not dial, I could not file,
The flutters in my heart, pounding ceaselessly for Maya,
If you are excited, multiply that by twelve hundred,
And you will know how I fell,
By the wicked brook, by the cricket rook,
I could not believe the spontaneous fluke,
That someone would think I'm amazing, hah,
I weighed silence on a brow, lifted and shifted,
I stole the dark from the night, gifted and rippled,
I saw you floating on the molten stream,
A glass sandal in your Darwin hand,
A crystal spectre in your Gershwin hand,
Holding unto fate, holding unto sage,
The morning unfolding slower,
The evening unrolling grayer,
I know I will be dumfounded when I hear your voice,
For I am a frog, I was told, I croak in speech,
In inferior pronunciations, I am more comfortable here,
Where mistakes could be corrected,
Where changes could be made,
I am the pompous typist, writing to create poetry,
Out of nothing, out of loathing, out of breathing,
Exercise books in the garbage bin, sin, gin, fin, pin, din,
The empty shadows passed, softer than a whisper,
Louder than a Dipper's hissing jewel,
The stars danced tonight, brighter than the moon,
I debated with Venus, upon her portable swing,
I asked her if I should be healed and she said No,
Treasure what you have because songs don't wait,
Don't wait for the sunset, don't wait for the jet lag,
Respond. She is waiting for her gleaming prince.
But, but, I'm not royal, you hear?
I'm witless in speech, you fear?
She smiled, the most blushed damsel in myth,
She advised me to proceed, for time and tide do not last,
Forever on the shores of bliss, half a world apart,
Half a day behind, she would be pure, wild as a tulip,
Growing on the meadows of tomorrow,
Around this moment, I would call you,
Praying that you would not be turned off by my dull tones,
May my ears be cleared to receive the symphony of ballet,
Spoken in riddles and drizzles,
I'm sure we will be chimed by Graham's Bells,
Eager to find out if we are real,
I plead for patience and impatience,
Wishing I were nearer, further from sleep,
How great if distance were not a barrier, a courier,
Of predestination, flicking watches and saucers,
I'm not a thief of souls, just a thief of chance,
I petition the devil our soul to keep,
Hoping I will not disturb your slumber or plumber,
When I shall visit your funnel of mischief,
Let it be known, I was famous for putting people to sleep,
Just for a New York phone conference,
I couldn't be more alive, more a hive,
Of bees fuzzing and vultures buzzing,
Ma, Ma, Maya, will you please pick me up?
Grace, if it be kind, replied.
Swift…
